Need Help Finding Adapter for Speakers...

So I recently got the Mystery Brand 5.1 speakers from Woot (Dell speakers) and it has the 3 stereo plugs in the back (black, green, yellow) to plug in to a regular sound card. It was SUPPOSED To come with an adapter that combines the three into one so you can hook it up to your laptop, other device etc... (so black green yellow to green as shown in the instructions)

I've been looking to buy one of these adapters... I've looked online at RadioShack and BestBuy but all there seems to be are Y adapters...

Can anyone help me find these things online so I can order?

Welcome to AT.

I'm a bit confused about this... does that adapter just send the stereo signal unaltered to the three jacks?

(so the center channel for example would just be playing either the Left or Right signal)

I don't know what you are trying to do. That doesn't make much sense.

I guess what you are trying to do is get all the speakers to play off of one output. There are ways to do this, but it would not be highly recommended. If a laptop has 5.1 capabilities it will have 3 audio outs(or one digital out). Otherwise all it can do is stereo.

I think you might be better off with just a Y-splitter because center/sub is going to be odd with that adapter.

Maybe just use 4.1 and save up for an audigy card or usb soundcard to put in your laptop?

So if I just get a regular Y, do I just plug in the black and green wires? Can't I just buy the 3 Y adapter, and then if it sounds weird, just unplug the center channel?

Right. Black and Green connected to a y-splitter.

I think the 3 way splitter will always sound strange as the center will only be getting the Left or Right signal rather than some kind of mix of the two. If you want to try it though, no harm in that.
