I hope I posted this in correct forum, appologies if I didn't. I once was a writer for a website that had the capability on the control panel of the site, to add and update the front-page news on the site. It made it really easy to edit things without having to go thru an FTP site and edite a notepad doc. They also had on the control panel a way to easily add product, check orders, etc for they're website store they had. Anyone know of a software that allows you to manage your website like this?

What scale website? Freebie or enterprise?

On the freebie/open-source end there are CMS solutions like Joomla where everything's extension based; there are many e-commerce extensions available.

postnuke (or now its zikula) is pretty good, however I was lookn for something a little bit more like just a webdesign software with a built in control panel. My old website had that (I didn't make the site myself). It was just a basic html/flash site and I had an admin control panel where I could upload photos, add a news article, add a product for sale, and it would auto-add it to the correct area of the site. Anyone know of something like that?
