Need help finding a particular wifi card

Hi, I need a wifi card for my Toshiba Libretto, but it is very important that the card's antenna stub have as short and flat a protrusion as possible. In fact, very flat is more important than very short. This is because the Libretto is basically devoid of any useful ports, and I need to put the wifi card in the bottom slot so that a cards with larger protrusions (like fullsize ports) can fit comfortably on the top slot without having to give up network connectivity.

Does anyone have any personal experience with a pcmcia card that would suit my needs?

I've an SMC EliteConnect card, Model Number: SMC2532W-B that fits those requirements exactly.

It's an older card, B only, and quite possibly out of production. Their updated version, the SMC2536W-AG looks like it would work; but I cannot claim personal experience.

Honestly, functionality is much more important than speed. Hell, I'm lucky this Libretto even supports WiFi--the model immediately older than mine only had 16-bit non-Cardbus-compliant slots! That would mean no USB either.

OK, I investigated the SMC card, and I think that's some extended-range model that still sells for abnormally high prices. I'll be keeping SMC in mind for other models tho...

I can't help you with the PCMCIA card like you asked, but have you ever considered a USB adapter? You do have USB right?

The disadvantage with USB is that they stick out, but you can easily unplug it and put in a pocket when not in use.

After getting a USB adapter, I just don't see the point of getting anything else as the USB you can use just about any laptop or desktop.
