Has the syntax changed that much? From what I saw when I looked the syntax looked almost exactly the same. Not that I have to worry about it. linux as a firewall Use something secure. Like checkpoint on NT! :p

I haven't really played with it. I did play with it a bit when it was initially being developed and consisted of two things: ipnactl and iptables. But I haven't played with it in it's final form.

why would u use linux if u just wanted an easy and quick answer. linux is about understanding the system, which yields the solutions. if you just ask for the process without the knowledge behind it, why use linux at all? im sure windows would serve your needs.

i realy believe in helping people learn linux, but the way you asked... its just disgusting. its the use of a tool without the knowledge to use it. most linux users will direct you where to learn. but i just dont believe we should give you the answers without you doing an effort to learn it. if you dont truly LEARN linux how will you benefit the linux community. you wont teach anyone else. you wont code. you would be a drain on the resources and patience of people who would like to help u. maybe you should use winodws, that doesnt require you to understand it. with windows, you dont have to give back to the community. yeah, you got a windows mentality.

iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE

but i hope you know, youre reaping the rewards of the linux community without ever contributing to it. learning linux, and UNDERSTANDING linux, helps the linux community. it helps advance interest, funding, and developement. quick solutions do not let u learn. if you cant spend 5 minutes reading the easy documentation. netfilter/iptables NAT HOWTO, in case you care to learn.

n0c is right, you have a bad attitude towards linux. if you just want to occassionaly use your computer for basic common tasks. windows does that, and required no effort from you. go use it.
