I know very little about RC stuff but I want to get a buddy of mine who's a real NASCAR fan a nice little gift. Any ideas? Also what kind of radio would be necessary for something like this? Gas or electric?

So what exactly would be the point of rc nascar? Take any battery powered car, attach a string to it and tie it up to a stake... voila. All its gonna do is go round and round, just like the real thing.

What? It's true. The only thing exciting about Nascar is when someone crashes.

1/6 is too big IMO. That's the sale you get for little kids who are easily impressed by size. The runtime with the regular 9.6v battery will suck. I haven't seen any Nascar RC cars in any case.

If there are touring car bodies, you can spend a few hundred $ on building one for him.

Well I figured getting such features in a 1/10 or smaller car wouln't be realistic plus he's one of them size/power=all kinda guys, he'd love it. Anyway I've yet to find something......

If you're extremely handy and have a lot of time and money, buy one of those big ones swtethan saw at Napa and an RC monster truck, build a custom frame, and put the suspension and wheels from the monster truck under the car.

No time but money not too much of an issue. It's not for me but for a guy who would spend time away from his family just to kill time on hobbies.

Quite honestly, I didn't get Nascar at all until I went to a race. Just go once and without explanation you'll agree.
