In Windows 2000, when trying to create a new dial-up network connection using the Connection Wizard, I get this error after completing all the steps clicking the finish button:

Can not create a new Dial-up Networking connection for your internet service provider.
Try creating a connection by double-clicking Dial-Up Networking in My Computer.

Suggestions?...

are you using the same name for the connection each time? i think i remember one time my connection to my local isp "PCIS" got corrupted and i couldnt create a new one called PCIS anymore. its not likely that this is your problem, but its worth a try

yes, but are you using the same connection name as a connection that previously existed? because once my "PCIS" was corrupted I could never make another connection with that same name, even if no connections existed

That didn't work. I'm going to try removing the modem, restart the computer, have it detect and reload the modem drivers, and then try to make the connection.
