how do you start up in Windows 95 in safe mode in a Dell? does anyone know?

I think you press F5 or F8 right after the beep on startup (if there is one) ... if not, just press it a bunch.

When you see the DOS text message that the system is starting, hit F8[/i]. You might have to hit it a few times, at least until you get used to the exact time in the sequence. On my machine, it's right after it checks the floppy and the CD-ROM driver, but I load MSCDEX.EXE in DOS, so if you don't, you may not get that message.

I usually just hold the function key before it says "Starting Windows", once that screen passes, the menu should pop up. I used to get aggrivated trying to time it right, so now I just do it this way

well i just held F5 down until it started beeping and i figured it got the point across took it a while to start in safe mode, but eventually it did it

what do you mean by 'the function key'? alt?
