Aye guys, as suggested by a lot of ppl I just joined these forums to seek help from ou'll the experts out there, on my soon to be, hardcore gaming rig's build. These are the components ive chosen from the limited amount of computer' components available in my country. Hoping to get a decent amount of replies to finalize this built by the end of this month.

Mobo____P5Q INTEL P45+ICH10R 1600 FSB (775PINS ? SND + LAN -DDR 2) PCX SLOT
Proc_____E8400 3.0Ghz (6MB CACHE - 1333 MHZ FSB)
GPU_____ATI PCX 4870 512MB (256-BITS) DDR5
Screen___2232BW 22" HIGH GLOSSY BLACK WIDE SCREEN
HDD_____500GB 3.5" HDD SATA-II 7200RPM 16MB Cache (ST-3500320AS)
RAM_____XMS2 DHX TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX/800 BUS (2GBx2)
Casing___CHASSIS CM 690
PSU_____ Need serious help with this...got these options:
1) Corsair 620 WATTS SLI READY (HX620W) MODULAR
2) Corsair 650 WATTS SLI READY (TX650W)
3) Coolermaster 600 WATTS EXTREME POWER SLI READY (RP-600-PCAR)
4) Coolermaster 650 WATTS REAL POWER PRO SLI READY (RS-650-ACAA-A1)

I think for my system a PSU of around 600W would be enough (but still Im open to suggestions) and around that quantity these 4 are the best that are available in my local stores.

Another imp concern...should I spend some extra bucks and go for E8500. Ive been strongly recommended to choose in b/w E8400 and E8500 rather than going for Q6600 (which btw is the only C2Q I can afford)

Ive never really been inclined towards OC-ing...but this time around I would like to try(strictly for gaming purposes) that out with my new system, so plz keep that in mind when ure giving any advice.

Thanks in adv for any suggestions.

Welcome to anandtech. I'd make these changes: 1) Get the P5Q Pro. It's only a few dollars more ($10 more, here), and it has alot better cooling, more SATA ports, and overclocks slightly better. 2) If you're going to buy a 500GB Seagate, definitely get the 7200.11 version. That's the one with 32MB of cache. They had alot of problems, for some reason, with the 400 & 500GB 7200.10's.

And any of those PSU's will work, with the best being the Corsair 620HX, second best is the 650TX, and third best is the Real Power Pro. Now, Cooler Master doesn't make bad PSU's, but their quality isn't as high as the Corsairs, and their power output isn't as clean. Also, that Cooler Master Extreme 600 doesn't have the 8-pin PCI-E plug that a 4870 card requires. If you get it, you'll have to find an adapter. I wouldn't recommend buying it, though. It's not half the PSU that the Real Power Pro is. Good luck.

Don't bother spending more money on the e8500, it only gives you an extra .5 multiplier and makes no real difference, especially if you plan to overclock. Which, btw, is extremely easy with these processors, just follow the guide at the top of this forum.

A Corsair HX520 is strong enough to power any single-card setup, no need to spend more.

You should also take a look at the System Builders Guide in the General Hardware forum. They have lots of suggestions on the best values in gear and are always ready to answer questions about new builds.

EDIT: And I would recommend going with the Western Digital WD6400AAKS 640GB hard drive instead of the Seagate 500GB drive. I've had both and the WD is quieter, cooler, and faster.
