Okay, I can't decide what to do and its preventing me from studying. I have 3 finals tomorrow in which I know I will fail if i don't study. I WILL FAIL, not do bad, but literally fail. I dont have a PC at the moment and need to decide whether to get an IMAC or to build another PC. I dont game that much anymore. All I use is internet, word processors, web design type stuff, and some stock trading (soon). Please not MAC bashing. I personally really like OSX, and that is what is making me want to buy the IMAC, but im not sure its worth it.

I ONLY WANT MATURE OPINIONS. thanks!

forgot to mention i have the ibook already. just bought it a few weeks ago. its awesome. that is why im considering going all mac. but not sure if i can actually do that.

IMACs are great, but is it worth the extra $$ if you're not using it's advantages (graphics editing) If you are doing a lotta photoshopping then go Mac, otherwise stay PC and use the saved $ for your stocks.

Won't this run the graphic design stuff just as well as the iMac would? Is there some other app you need to run that the ibook won't handle?

no, not really. i just can't decide what to use for my main pc. obviously, the imac should run everything faster than my ibook, but that is besides the point.

why bother anyway? Just use the iBook. That's a great computer. It's like buying a 1.2 ghz laptop and still insisting on getting a desktop.

Heh heh. I've never had a Mac but have had roommates who have...The IMAC is an amazing computer--everything you could ever need. Still, if you go through with it, be prepared to face the ridicule of your fellow ATers 😉

<< crappy time to buy an imac with the recent $100 price INCREASE! :Q >>

j&r is selling them at the old price with free shipping.. and looking at their website, says there is a rebate for the imac.

then again, they are out of stock at the moment..

no, im actually on a tight budget. but my school give F.A. for a computer and, so i'd rather take advantage of that than not 😉 stupid justifications...but whatever.

My only reason to vote against the iMac is because I don't like all in one computers. Other than that go with what you like.

after being forced to work on a mac for a week at school I dislike them more than ever, nothing works, constantly crashing, slow, very slow.

That was a g4 mac running macos9

and oh yeah, get a pc😉 cheaper, faster, and you can get all the help you need here.

Which of the three iMac models did you purchase? Hopefully it's the 1st or 2nd most expensive model, the low end is crap. Well they're all innovative overpriced but nice crap and this coming from a lifelong Mac fanatic.

It sounds like you've already made up your mind that you want to keep your iMac order. Even though it's smarter to build a faster PC for HALF the price of the iMac (around $700 from NewEgg.com) you'll probably end up spending TWICE as much on a SLOWER machine.

The smart decision is to keep using your iBook for your MAC OS X stuff and build your own PC.

My thoughts exactly. What happens if one minor part of the monitor goes bad? Then the whole computer is worthless... And if the demand stays so high it will be weeks or even a month until you can get a replacement. I certainly couldn't go that long without a computer.

With a different computer, you just use a temporary monitor and you are back in business that same day.
