Well , you can't do anything about it now. They have it already. Best you can do is be cool with them , and get your rig back as soon as you can.
I STILL SAY THEY ARE WANKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd be nervous...not so much about what they're finding as to what they are DOING to it.

Exactly I only had the one movie on there that they knew about becuase its such a new computer.

Also i didn't have any other HDs laying around

NTFS Encryption. It does it's job. Well. So well, you lose those passwords, even you won't be able to get access to your data.

Don't believe the bullshit, 0-bitting, or random-bitting your hard drive once will be enough for the amount of work even a tech that moves as fast as I do would be willing to do for $70.

solution: cheap hard-drive big enough for games and windows
keep the other as an external for your piratebay souveniers.

or: get one of these keep a liveCD in the optical drive and tell them you work from LiveCD and you keep all your data on a biometric USB flash drive. Someone happened to have a rootkitted installation of windows they booted the machine with and it as a zombie machine, it downloaded stuff without your knowledge. so by all means, they can look at a perfecting booting machine with nothing but a CD in it.

Probably too late now, but delete any of the incriminating files and overwrite the space with all the porn you can get your hands on.

The techies will be so distracted, they'll forget all about what they were looking for.

ROFL best idea yet

i sure as hell wouldnt have let them take my computer, that is the most rediculous thing ive ever heard! what college is this??? if anything happens to it, i for sure would quit the stupid school and sue them.

Very true on this being better than a lawsuit from the RIAA. Compared to that, this is nothing, so relax a little.

Now, one thing I just thought of that no one has mentioned: Even though its probably very illegal, given the requests so far, I wouldn't put it past the tech department you're dealing with to do it, but I would be worried they might install something on your computer to monitor future downloads. I know it sounds crazy at first, but I'll bet they could hide that in a University terms of use document somewhere or in the stuff you just signed when you gave them the PC. So it might be a good idea to format it anyway when you get it back for that reason. Or I could just be paranoid.

As far as getting your computer back, they will only answer the phone so many times before getting annoyed saying "It'll be done soon...."

Finns , I'm not in college anymore , so I can't say what I would have done if I were in your shoes. Bottom line is I would have one hell of a hard time bringing my rig in to let some "TECH" look at it , and delete things without me standing over his shoulder. I think most of us have dowloaded something at one time or another.
What are they charging you $70 for? Damned wankers are probaby using it to buy DVD-R's so they can back up all your sweet porn.
Big Brother Sucks. Best bet is to get out of the Dorm as soon as possible so you can set up your high gain antenna kit. Then you can skeeze someone's unprotected wireless signal and download as much as you can using their ISP.
