need help connecting plasma to hd box

currently have this archaic plasma that came w/ RGBHV MALE (to tv) <--> VGA MALE

now i want to hook this up to my hd box via DVI (male) or component video (male)

so i need:

1) vga (male) --> vga (female) adapter + dvi (male) <--> dvi (male)
2) rgbhv (male) <--> component video (male) ..does this exist?
3) rgbhv (male) <--> dvi (male) ..does this exist?

other options?

your advice greatly appreciated

I'm so confused... describe your setup in more detail.

You're trying to go from an "hd box" (what is that? An HTPC? A cable box? What?) via either component or DVI-D to something that takes only VGA input?

If so, that can't be done without a transcoder in between (most likely component->VGA; google "VGA box"). That adaptor goes from a DVI-I (digital + analog, normally found only on computers) *out* to a VGA *in* -- it won't turn DVI-D (digital-only) into VGA.

Yeah, his last post confused me too.

Inputs available on your plasma (VGA, and component?)

Inputs available on your device (DVI?)

You still haven't described what your "HD Box" is, or if it has DVI-I or DVI-D output. If it has DVI-I (DVI-D + analog VGA via an adaptor), all you need is the adapter linked above (and possibly a gender changer). If it only has DVI-D and component, you need a transcoder box to go component->VGA. Your display will only take a VGA input, and you cannot go from DVI-D or component to VGA without a transcoder.
