i have a valid paid for copy of instant lock i would sell... i paid $50 for it but ill sell it for $25. i dont use it, i just use a usb key now uncrypted.

Wouldnt a hidden volume do this? If encrypted using AES/Twofish, how the hell could it realistically be decrypted? Assuming password strength.

Why not just use something like 7zip ?
Its simple, can be very fast if you set it to store for the compression option.
It will hide the contents of the file including filename.
The encryption is also very good. AES-256bit.
The same encryption used by the NSA.

Because it would be a huge PITA to have to extract files all of the time to work with them?

I guess the point is, the encryption is what is protecting that data, if you believe law enforcment wont find a 'hidden' volume you are wrong. What then happens (at least in the US) is the court orders you to hand over the encryption keys, you refuse (knowing what they will find) so you get held instead for contempt of court.
