I plan on building a new workstation with either an Intel e5200 or Athlon 64 x2 kuma, but I can't find a good motherboard for the price range of $80 for either. I have been looking at G45 and 790GX chipsets. and I am at a loss.

Can someone suggest something?

On the AMD side of things, you could go with 780g & SB710 or 750 in that price range. 790GX is just a slightly faster 780g.
