Need Help, Cannot Get VGA signal with new Build

Okay so I put everything together and power it up, No VGA signal, as in the monitor will not turn on, meaning that the VGA connection on the mobo was bad or shorting...so I disconnected everything one by one and even tried booting with it on the electrostatic bag with only the power cable and nothing...

I cleared the CMOS with the jumper and by the battery...

Now here's the thing, this is my first build, so either I am not doing something right (but I cannot find any VGA jumpers or anything), or the mobo is defective. I would go buy a cheap PCI E video card to work around this instead of RMAing the mobo, but I am not sure if that will fix the problem, as I have no idea if the Mobo is even posting, as I do not here any beeps or lights, and I of course cannot see anything on the monitor. It is a real pain in the ass.

It is a Gugabyte S-Series AM2 Micro ATX GA-M61SME-S2.

Also for the power connector, the main ATX connector and the 12V connector go together in the same big plug right? As it powers on that way, but the gigabyte manual shows another 12V connector to the right of the CPU socket, which if I plug the 12V in there it does not power on.
Any suggestions? It kind of reminds me of when you buy a new vid card and plug it in without installing the drivers and the VGA signal will not connect...but how the hell am I supposed to install the drivers for the on board graphics without the damn monitor???
Anyway any help would really be greatly appreciated!!!

Also forgot to add tried two different monitors and VGA cords, so it is not the monitor or cord.

I am googling now and it appears there are people who have had this problem with Gigabyte boards...I am going to try and boot now with only 1 gig on ram (only one stick).

Also might I add, that the PSU is 500W so it is definitely enough V.

Why does everyone try to power up the board on a anti-static mat? A anti-static mat is conductive.

What power supply do you have?

That is the entire system...I am now reading that this is usually caused by incompatible RAM or CPU, but I do not see why it all would not be supported. If you guys could check I am going to also, and I am going to try and boot with 1 stick of RAM and off the of the static bag.

Err, I dunno how it powers up. The OCZ has a main 24-pin connector for the motherboard, but it should also have another, separate 4-pin power connector for the CPU.

Oh crap! I had thought the PCU power cord and the 4 pin connector on the 24 pin ATX connector were the same...

So I powered up the mobo with the 4 pin ATX in the CPU socket, and with out anything...

Just tried it the way it is supposed to be and the same thing. I can hear the CPU working now, but now I am afraid something is fried. :(

Nope nothing is fried I just checked the CPU (reapplied paste and everything) and the RAM...

God this is such BS...

I checked and everything is SUPPOSED to be supported by the MOBO, but can someone please double check for me.

Also what is this mobo supposed to be doing if it is working correctly...I hear no beeps or anything...and when I try to short the CMOS pins to clear the BIOS it does nothing that I can tell.

Hopefully your not shorting those pins when the computer is on.

Can you please take some pictures of how you have the computer setup right now?

No I am not. Would it hurt to try it though?

I will take pics this week, thanks a lot for helping!

Yes that would possibly break the motherboard. If you can, try to find someone with a PCI-e graphics card. Or buy a cheapo one from somewhere to try.

wherever you heard that, purduery, it is simply not true. Actually, some motherboard makers require you to start it with the clear jumper jumpered for the clear to take place. This may actually be what is happening with this motherboard - some motherboards will not POST if the jumper is in the clear position - try alternating the jumper and see if it powers up properly, if not put it back how it is now.

If you have another pc somewhere within access that is compatible (takes some of the same parts) you should try swapping parts into that computer one at a time, each time starting it up to make sure the machine still starts. This is the easiest way to diagnose a whole new PC, testing the parts in a known working system one at a time.

No there is no jumper, they tell you to use a metal object to short the two pins.

I WISH I could swap the parts in an out but my only current machine that U have access to is a Pentium 3 stone age one :(

it looks like that's just about your only option left is to find someone near you that is willing to help swap-test parts... unless you are willing to RMA the part you guess it is and hope that it is what is bad...
you may want to just try an old pci vidcard in the system to see if it boots, as well as trying the old psu just to see if you can get it to boot with it...but beyond that you need to swap-test with newer parts...sorry.

I had the exact same last weekend for my new build (E8400 & Abit IP35 Pro). No VGA output at all. I cleared the CMOS, switched to the old video card, had to unplug everything except 1 memory module and the video card. And it still did not post. Finally, I switched to another motherboard then it post successfully. I suggest you switch the board as the last resource.

Thanks I'll try that.
