Hi Anandtechers, I need your help on this.

I have an Asus K7M mobo and it says it supports PC100 SDRam. I have 2 sticks of PC133 totalling 384 MBRam. I want to use this, but will my mobo allow this to happen? Will the mobo tell the ram to step down to PC100 from PC133???

Thank you for any help given!

Albert.

no it will not but the ram should work on your m/board without problems.
the pc133 simply means that it should work at 133fsb & it will work fine at 100fsb.

I own this motherboard. It is based on the AMD750 chipset, and does not support PC133 ram. Currently I have 320 MB of PC133 in my computer.

Yes it will run the ram at 100 MHz, unless you OC the FSB. You cannot set the RAM to run at 133 MHz (PC133) on this mothertboard.

Sure it will work, the 133mhz ram will just run at 100mhz instead of 133mhz

depends on your memory.
I tried this when I built my first system & it gave me a HUGE amount of problems.
I ended up getting the K7V to support my ram.

I would suggest you DO NOT use pc133 ram, stick with pc100.
(BTW, everything worked fine on the K7V, & I have a K7M w/ classic 600 using pc100 right now & it runs fine)

Well so far the good out balances the bad so I will go ahead and try it, and see what happens. This is good quality ram! Made by Mugen Module, which is the Asian / Far East alternative to Crutial I think? Good quality I have heard, so I will give it a go!

Thanks guys!

Albert.

Yep! Well more like when I went to HK on hols my Uncle took me shopping! ANd so after me getting "FEW" things I came back.

Shopping list:

IBM 75GXP 30.7 GB
128MB Ram PC133 Mugen Module
256MB Ram PC133 Mugen Module
Asus 8X DVD (Chipped for Region-Free)
Asus 8X4X32 CD-Writer
Zip 250 Internal
Web Cam
And to top it all off, Logitech Cordless Mouseman Wheel.

Great Uncle him, got me everything apart from the Mouse, which I payed for! :)

So everybody sure this good quality Ram will work with my Mobo then?

Albert.

EDIT: P.S I brought them all back to the U.K an nothing happened! Which was cool! :p:):p

I'd be worried if I heard someone saying "knock, knock" outside. :)
for those outside the UK, that the call sign for customs & excise squad just before they carry out their raid on premises!

PC133 will work in PC100... it just AMD750 might be a little picky on the memory module sometimes.. I use K7M, and have 2x256MB PC133 and no problem... before that I have 3x128MB, also have no problem.
