need help buying a pci video card

just got a system with an integrated intel 3d card so i am now stuck.... i was hoping to get the v5 pci version but since i have heard about 3dfx going down i dont know (will it still be worth getting a 3dfx product)..... i have not seen an other 3d cards in pci versions that are any good.... what do i do just wait till the v5 pci goes down in price and just pick one up caz i have no other choice.... or wait for another company to develope a pci 3d card?????????

the v5 is the best you are going to get for now i think, the drivers are fairly mature so if you grab one, you should be ok.

Actually there are a couple versions of the GeForce MX card which can be had in PCI format. If you're looking to go that route, search here for "PCI Geforce MX" and you should come up with some results.

Inno3D has PCI Geforce2 MX.

The 32MB Radeon PCI version should be out soon. It will probably be a little cheaper than the V5 w/64MB. I would wait for a roundup of the big 3 before buying.

There are PCI GeForce2 MX cards, but their significantly slower than their AGP brothers. I hate to say it, but even with the demise of 3dfx you might be better off with a PCI V5 5500.

You sure about the 32mb radeon pci version... if so would the performance be the same as the agp version... ??/.,/.?// maybe wait to see if ati produces a strong 3d pci card or else just pick up a v5 5500 pci and cross my fingers...>..

Radeons have some major driver problems, so if you get one make sure you watch it.

If it's a matter of AVAILABILITY, your best bet may be the Creative Labs' Geforce2 MX PCI card. It uses DDR memory and is a tad slower than the regular SDR cards out there (ironic, eh?) but is still plenty fast, cheap, beats the pants off i810 video and you'd probably be quite pleased. There is better out there, but this one is probably easiest to find.
