I think the Canon SD110 is pretty hot. It's 'only' 3.2 MP, but it's pretty small and takes really good pic in low light / indoors situations. I would recommend it. You can also pick one up new for about 225 bucks.

Very hot, I love that digicam.

IIRC minendo owns the SD100 and loves it.

hey, if you haven't already made your purchase, check out this review of the a80 vs. the a70. i believe he states that the same comparisons hold for the a75 as the a70. i got an a80 several months back and am really loving it - it's an awesome cam, and the swivel lcd has come in handy on a number of occasions!

in terms of speed i've used many cams and have yet to find a digicam that can snap as fast as a film camera. that would be my major (and only) real pet peeve with digital.

my vote is for the SD110, if you want ultra portability, and don't mind the loss of optical zoom (drops to 2x). A series for budget. Keep in mind cost of an extra battery/set of batteries, charger if need be, and memory.

but i'm an avid canon pusher :p minolta has some nice stuff too, as does fuji and olympus in the price range.

The A80 will do better in low light. It has a larger sensor, 1/1.8 vs 1/2.7, same size as the G series.

Anyone play with the Canon Powershot s1? I'm wondering which takes better shots with zoom that or the Kodak EasyShare DX6490. The Kodak is poor at low lighting.

go the the canon site to compare the features. the a80 does have a number of little things that i think make it a better choice than the a75. basically the a75 is just an update of the a70. if you read the article i mentioned you'll notice the reviewer talks a lot about the ccd size, the a75 uses the same smaller ccd as the a70. the a80 does have a smaller lcd screen but i really like having the ability to close the lcd when the camera is in the case. my last digicams lcd got badly scratched, i anticipate this will do much better.

No qualms here :p

ahhh I didn't say piss poor. Can you recommend some good settings for low light? I keep getting fuzz no matter how much I sit there and let it focus.
