I have been searching all over for help on building a computer. I got a little help but I still need more. This is my first time so it might not be right at all.

The mother board I choose is Intel D845PESV

CPU is Intel 2.53Ghz

How much memory do you think I need?

Video card I want is Radeon 9500 PRO

Hard drive is whatever I can get a good deal on.

I will be using my TDK cd burner till the Dvd-rws come down on price

I might get a sound card if I need one.

I have a cable modem so I think I need a LAN card or something.

I will also be getting a floppy drive just in case i ever use on again.

I will be using this system to surf the net, play games and watch movies. I want to watch movies from my computer to my tv. The 9500 pro has a s-video I heard that I can watch movies from the computer to the tv with that but I am not sure about sound.

Can you guys help me pick out a case that is not to high but has good cooling and power and 2 usb ports in the front?

Does this sound like it will work, someone told me the motherboard will not work with the video card.

Do you guys have any better ideas then what I have picked out?

On the case I was thinking I need 400 watt or do you think 350 watt would be enough?

512mb of ram should be plenty

I would go for a seagate hard drive if you are concerned about noise, if not, get whatever you can get the best deal on :)

If you want a case with good cooling and front usb check into the Chieftec/Antec/Chenming case. It comes with front USB now and has space for 4 fans :)

For a PSU I would check into an Enermax or Antec. I would think 350w would be plenty for the amount of hardware you are running. If you intend to upgrade and add more components in the future you may want to go with a 400w though.

ANTEC SOHO File ServerTower ATX Case Model SX1040BII with 400 Watt Smart Power, Power Supply **Black**Performance 2 Series

or one of these, they are the same case

CPU is Intel 2.53Ghz

How much memory do you think I need? at least 512 MB

Video card I want is Radeon 9500 PRO- good

Hard drive is whatever I can get a good deal on.- Weatern Digital with 8 MB cache

I will be using my TDK cd burner till the Dvd-rws come down on price- nice

I might get a sound card if I need one. Sound blaster Audigy 2

I have a cable modem so I think I need a LAN card or something. unless it's USB, yes

I will also be getting a floppy drive just in case i ever use on again. good to have

For power supply, 350 should be good as long as it's good quality like Antec

So you guys think that the Radeon 9500 pro will work with the motherboard I have picked out?

How hard are the cooling fans to install and how much do they cost?

If you get a boxed intel CPU it will come with a fan and they are pretty easy to install, no screwdriver needed!

Is that the only fan I will need?

I would skip that mobo if I were you Zam. Save yourself money in the future and get this board from newegg for $10 more Abit mobo You get a much longer upgrade path since you have option for 4x RAM slots (4 GB tota), plus it supports DDR400 single+dual channel, AND you get 533fsb and 800fsb support. I also suggest "upgrading" from the P4 2.53ghz processor to the P4 2.4C for $10 since you get the 800fsb. That extra .13ghz isn't going to make a difference, but I guarantee upgrading from the 533fsb to the 800fsb will. $20 and you get a longer upgrade path and a faster option.

A lot of Chieftec/Antec/Chem cases come with 2+ fans already, which will probably be enough for you. That vid card will have a fan on it too, so you'll have a fan on your processor, vid card, and the two that 'should' come with the case.

Newegg has great prices, and doesn't charge shipping on a lot things. If you get a plexi side window case and want spiffy LED fans you can try SVC.com Other than that just hit up the for sale forum and look around. I just picked up two clear fans and a blue LED fan for $10 shipped.

Fans are no biggy, try any local computer store and they should have some regular fans.

Now, with the soundcard, i would suggest one since they take a load off the CPU while gaming, since the onboard Audio bogs down the CPU a little (not much). If you only have like a 2.1 speaker system then a SB Live! 5.1 should be fine, you can pick one up OEM for about $30.

If you have surround sound, 4.1+ speakers then the SB Audigy 2 is YOUR card! It sounds great!.

ALWAYS buy a name brand PSU, Antec, Enermax, all good i owned some of them. I heard good things about sparkle too. For hardrives, if you really don't care, then i would get a Seagate or Maxtor, i hear WD is a pain to RMA (but i never have had to).

Try going for an I865 Chipset mobo any brand really, MSI, Asus, Intel, Abit, Giga-Byte, all i can think fo right now, all make good boards.

Case fans are a nice thing to have 2 is enough, and they should come with your case, if not try www.newegg.com

Hope that helps! GL with your rig!

Yes, that case will work. I also suggest you get a seagate drive. I had one mess up on me and I sent it back. It took 2 weeks both ways to get a new drive. Very good customer service.

It is between maxtor and seagate. I will probably get whatever I can get cheaper.
