Need help building a PC on a budget.

The shipping charges are included for everything except the monitor and I have Windows XP covered for him if he wants.

Ok, didn't know that shipping charges were included. Guess that will work out well for him then. I just hope tax isn't too much since he will be assessed sales tax if he does buy the parts from newegg since he is in California.

OH. Didn't notice that one. That will hurt considerably. That also effects pretty much every place else he could get parts online except Monarch, but with there prices on most components he might as well just pay the taxes.

About XP, software is covered already. Don't worry about it. I aready have the money to get XP Home.

Okay guys, now that I have a sense of what tech stuff I have, I need to know about ethernet cards and 802.11 g cards I will need.
Ethernet for LAN parties with friends, and the 802.11g card for my Airport Extreme base. Anybody know if it will work with it?

I also need to know now if it depends on what kind of screen I get, like LCD, flatscreen, CRT, whatever.

Bleh...A good 1100 dollars could get you (I'm not going to be specific, just a generalization)

$ 140-160 for a decent 939 socket CPU (3000+ venice, opteron?)
$ 180-190 for a 2x1Gb value ram
$ 70-80 reliable 939 motherboard w/ pci express port (pci-express and agp: AsRock ULi ?) either way
$ 200 on a decent graphics card (6800GS?)
$ 60-70 on a HDD (file size varies)
$ 30-40 on a DVD-R
$ 70-80 on a case
$ 60-70 on a reliable PSU
$ 30 on a wireless PCI card
$ 180 +/- for a 17" LCD screen, or a 19" if possible.
