Need help! Big problem with PC

I think my other PC has a big problem with it. Basically, when I turn it on, I hear repeated beeping (long beeps) from the system's speaker, and there is no display on the monitor. I have a BX6 r2 mobo.
Any help would be appretiated!

Thanks

Usually that happens when the memory isn't seated correctly, or it's gone. Listen to the beeps again, carefully, do you hear a slight pause? Count the beeps between pauses, that'll narrow your search down.

ooo i didnt know that

Might be a video card problem. Reseat your card and check it on another computer if you haven't already.

I had a problem like that on my ECS k7s5a, got 8 beeps which equals a bad vid card.

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried reseating my video card, and the beep went away, but there was still no display. I than took out my TNT2 and replaced it with a Voodoo3, still no display. I put my TNT2 back in, booted up again, and woo~hoo--display!

Now there is ANOTHER problem. When I try to boot into windows, it just hangs. Boot-up seems to go fine (everything loads properly...hardware, etc), but when it goes from DOS to Windows, no windows appears, only a black screen. I can get into safe mode (doing a virus scan right now). Anything you can recommend to fix things?

Thanks!

If you watch the HD LED when you boot and after it stops blinking you press the windows key(between the alt and ctrl buttons), then the up arrow key then enter twice and your system shuts down or restarts then you have a bad video driver installation. Sometimes this can be fixed in safemode, sometimes it can't. You need to make your display Standard VGA so you can re-install your video drivers.

Paderv: I attempted to try the windows key-up arrow-enter (2x) thing, but the HD LED remained bright for the whole time.

I can't even get into Safe Mode now. It brings up a black screen, and the mouse is frozen.
Argh, any ideas?

When you boot from a floppy, or into the command prompt, can you see the screen then? If you can, but you can't get into windows, you may need to re-install.

i agree with doremi. reseat everything, from your ram, vid card, anything in the pci slots and try again.
