I had a perfect working setup with ECS K7S5A Pro, Athlon 2000XP, Win Pro XP, Antec 830SX 300W. I moved some of my hard drives around from IDE0 to ATA Card. I had to go to the bootup sequence window and manually select the IDE and it booted up okay. In the sebsequent bootup, I did the following changes in the BIOS:

1. During bootup, I noticed the Athlon was showing as 1250. So I went in the BIOS screen and updated the CPU/RAM ratio. I do not remember the exact setting. I think I chose 166/133.

2. Changed the boot sequence from IDE0 to Ultra IDE 0.

Now when I bootup, I get just a blank screen, I hear the hard drives spin, CD-ROM and DVD-ROM lights flashing, case fans and CPU fan spinning but the keyboard lights do not even blink during bootup. I do not get any beep sounds.

I do not see the BIOS screen. I tried an alternate monitor, tightened all the connectors and cables inside.

Please help!!

Try this:

  • Unplug the computer from the wall
  • Clear the CMOS using the method shown in the motherboard's owners' manual
  • Plug the system back into the wall and try it now
  • If it runs, now set your CPU/DRAM to 133/133 (this is the combo you want for your 2000+) and you should be back on track
Good luck! :)
