need help...bad gpu bios flash

alright...i screwed up flashin the bios of my 9500. my computer locks w/o vid card. so i got pci card. i tried flashin the 9500 bios but unfortunately...i believed i flashed the 9500 bios to the crappy pci card. my question is before i ruin everyone of my cards...what do i type to flash agp's card's bios...and what do i type to flash pci's card's bios...
 
I'm too chicken to try flashing a videocard bios. Besides, what could I flash a 9800Pro to... an XT? 😕

Why on earth would you flash? If you don't know DONT GO, im assuming you tried to flash to a 9700, not gonna happen if it's a later version 9500, they made a new 9500 series board for that reason in particular
 
i do know how to flash the card that's runnin...cept i kinda used to high a clock speed...therefore it won't boot at all. in most of the threads i read at rage3d...it says you can always fix a bad flash with a pci vid card or onboard video. however, i don't know the command to flash a card from another slot as if i just use the normal command when using the pci video card, it just flashes the pci video card.
 
You have to put the AGP card in take out the PCI and type blind. WIth your boot floppy with the flash utility and bios. Wait awhile to make sure it's at the A:\ prompt

then type the command to flash your bios.
 
it's people like you who flash, corrupt, then RMA your cards back to the vendor and then in turn
gets sent to people like me.
(i.e. my 2 bad BFG 5900's from GameVE that mysteriously looked like they'd been flashed before!)

arghhhh.......if you don't know what you're doing...don't do it!

It's my understanding he's just trying to fix it......if he were going to RMA it, why would he have bothered with this thread???

flashrom -p 1 xxxxxx.rom?

or

atiflash -p 1 xxxxx.rom

usually just run the flash program without adding anything to the command line and it'll tell you all the parameters you need ... i don't know what number the ATI card will be when you're running the PCI card... but theres a command that lets you know which cards correspond to which number.

Ive done a couple of blind flashes before since i don't have a PCI video card... worked out for me. 🙂
 
br is right, boot up with the PCI card and the ATi flash utility will tell you which card is which. I had a bad flash on mine and had to purchase a PCI card to do it. Figured might as well have one around anyways.

He is probably trying to just unlock the 9500 bios so he can overclock. Did that with my visiontek 9500 pro and ended up with an OC of 375mhz on the core. Yea it was definately worth it.
