My other computer was running WinME and Windows 2000...... everything was working fine til my dad crashed it somehow. Windows 2000 still runs flawlessly, but when you try to boot Windows ME, it says GDI.EXE error or something to do with that file. It also says you MUST REINSTALL WINDOWS ME..... so...... i reinstalled windows ME...... i used the command line setup /ntldr so that it wouldn't mess with the boot files..... however........ now...... it will load like normal.... says windows is configuring files, then it stalls....... it never even goes INTO windows...... can someone help me out? would reinstalling w/o the /ntldr switch fix it? but then how would i fix the boot sector so i can dual boot again? if it wont' fix it how do I go about fixing it? The reason it's urgent is cause my dad needs the computer tonite for his work (he's leaving tomorrow for a business trip), and windows 2000 doesn't have the software (nor does it support the software) my dad uses to do his work........can some1 help me out? i dont' wanna reinstall everything cuz that would take too long....

Is there a way for you to go to WinMe safe mode in the startup? That's what i would do. Then go to the system restore (if being used) and revert to an earlier config. It may not work but at least it will do the registry stuff. Hope that helps.
