Need help Audigy users

Ok the dude I got it from didnt include the driver CD for it, it is bare card with midi addon(what do you expect for $30). Well I downloaded the latest drivers on Creatives site and also downloaded the software(a womping 377mb) off another driver site. Well I tried to install the software but it says no Sound Blaster hardware found and exits the software. Does anyone have any idea whats going on?

I tried to point my audigy to the drivers section of the software I downloaded and it installed them I guess but it still says it.

Could someone give me step by step instructions on how to install the audigy and softwared I d/led?

The only thing I install other than drivers is the Surround Mixer, as it lets you set the output for # of speakers, adjust bass, treble, etc...

If you have 5.1 speakers you might want the surround mixer and audioHQ. Everything else can be left out, and anything Creative has running at startup can be disabled.

Yeah, especially that god-aweful splash screen which doesn't even work right but would still be the most annoying thing in the world if it did.

First, un-install the software you downloaded. Turn off your comp. Check to make sure your card is not in the top pci slot (I usually install mine in the next to bottom pci slot). Make sure the card is seated fully. Boot. If your mobo has onboard sound, go into bios and disable it. When windows detects new hardware, point it towards the DRIVERS for audigy, not the software. You only want to load the drivers for it. Once they're loaded and your sound is working, then load the other software. If your comp doesn't automatically detect your soundcard, go to Start-->Control Panel-->Add new hardware (win98) --OR--right click on My Computer-->Properties-->Hardware-->Add new hardware (win2k, XP) and run the hardware wizard. If it still doesn't find the sound card, I'd say the card was bad...
