Hi guys,

I have a:
ABIT BX133
Intel PIII 700 (stepping: cB0)
PC133 Micron Memory
GeForce 2 GTS (ASUS V7700)
Creative Live! Value
10/100 3Com
Stock Intel heatsink and a good cooler (a Cooler Master for TB 1.2GHz)

I want to overclock it to 933, but I just CAN'T do it sucessfully. It seems to run OK, but on Quake 3 and other aplications, it locks up, on a random way.

My config allways is: 1/4 PCI, and the 2/3, 133 fsb, CAS etc 3-3-3.

The vcore (default is: 1.65v) I have tryed 1.70 and 1.75v....

above that is dangerous? My temperature is never above 47°C

Anyone could give me any information, or a clue for a sucessfull o/c? I don't think the video card is the problem, becouse I have a GeForce DDR and it locks up the SAME WAY.

Thanks for ANY reply!

Try upping the vcore, keep it under 1.90. Also try disabling side band addressing on the video card if it's enabled.

Bengt3, up the vcore and get some better cooling. I've got 2 p3 700's cb0 stepping, one runs 933 at 1.65 no problems (actually will hit 1008 at 1.95) the other needs 1.8 to run stable at 933. These two processors were purchased from the same store, manufactured at the same facitiy one week a part just to show the difference in week to week runs. Check out Overclockers.com CPU database for the 700 to get an idea of what settings are used. Some 700's will never make 933, but yours sounds like vcore or heat. I agree the vcore probably shouldn't be over 1.9 although I've seen others run higher and Intels latest spec sheet rates the core at 2.05 max. I use the rule of thumb, + .2, ie.1.65 +.2 = 1.85. My systems run between 34-37c loaded. 47c sounds a little high from what I've seen although I believe it's within Intels specs. Get a better HSF. Maybe a Golden ORB, Globalwin FOP32-1 or a Alpha PAL 6035. Use good thermal paste. I got some Artic Silver and it dropped my temps 2-3c. Good luck. With a little tweaking you should get there.

Thanks guys! I'll try up to 1.85v vcore. I'll post the results here, within a week or something. Thanks a lot, and wow, that database is AWESOME!!!! =]

sucessful overclock at 1.85v, at least for now... thanks!

A strange thing is that my PC is doing only 153 fps on timedemo 1, quake 3 arena 1.17...

Please, anyone could run the timedemo with my config, and post the results?

my config is here: http://www.guiadopc.com.br/bengt.cfg

THANKS!!!!!
