Need help... 2000AS Application sharing, Login Speed

Edit: this thread was originally about setting up roaming profiles, but I figured it out....

I have roaming profiles working, and for whatever reason, every time I login to my domain, my machine spends much longer loading everything. The profile is next to empty - my router shows that there is little to no activity between my workstation and server. I can't figure it out... any ideas?

Also, here are some logistical questions about application sharing and roaming profiles...

Workstation A has Office installed, workstation B doesn't

1) If I log into my domain from A and log out, I'll have a start menu with office shortcuts on my server. If I then log in from B, will my workstation's start menu have shortcuts that cannot function?
2) If I log into my domain from B and log out, I'll have a start menu without office shortcuts stored. If I then log in from A, will I get this same start menu even though office is installed on A?

I'm thinking the best workaround is to just share applications from my server. If this is the case, can someone point me in the direction of a resource to get me started on implementing this?

do you have enough machines to test this out? if you do, I would recommend just testing with it. I learn everything better if I can do it hands on, and I always learn more than what i need to when I do it myself. If you don't have the resources to test with, I guess someone here might have already and you'll just have to wait for their response.

BTW, those are some good questions. If I were setting up roaming profiles, that would be something I would want to know.

I've got two workstations to play with, but I'm still trying to figure out why one of them refuses to use a roaming profile and takes aeons longer than the other one to log into the domain. So for the time being, my question is still theoretical - I'm just concerned about what might happen when I finally get this thing working.
