I want to buy an SSD for a fast access of pictures/photos, videos, and software but I don't know which one since I am new to this technology. I would prefer a large capacity & reliable.

Thank you for looking!

What machine are you going to use with your SSD? Is it SATA 3Gb or does it support SATA 6Gb?
As for reliable, no matter if it is a SSD or a HD, you *must* keep backups, of anything important, they all can and will fail at some point.

I'd suggest a Crucial BX100 or MX200 ssd, either should be fine for your app just buy based on cost.

This, in spades. SSDs are great, but they do fail.

Something else to consider, when sizing an SSD, you will need to leave 10-20% of the drive empty for it to work properly... don't buy a 128GB SSD and pack it full, performance will suffer greatly.

Honestly, I would pass on samsung these days, unless you can get it at a very good price.
They have horrible RMA support, and not to mention firmware issues on some of their SSDs.
Does their M2 line suffer as well? No way of telling at this point.
I also don't like the fact that pretty much all the M2 SSDs get pretty darn hot, I would rather get a 2.5" or 3.5" SSD instead for a desktop system for the OS, and then a HD for games or whatever, unless you want to get a 512GB SSD or bigger.
But, you still need a backup device. :)

And their warranty is NOT international.........see my thread here:

Unable to get warranty from Samsung in Dubai

So they cheat customers by saying 10 year international warranty but the catch is, you have to send the SSD to Samsung USA if you ever have a problem with it, the local Samsung in various countries have no clue how to service or repair a Samsung SSD, not that Samsung USA does but still saying.

In my opinion - Today, for the BEST Reputable SSD performance I would choose either a Samsung 850 Pro (MLC) or the Crucial BX 100 (MLC) SDD just based on consumer reports - Pending Service and Warranty - If you ever need it.

Both are Expensive.

I've been running Samsung 840 Pro's and WD HDD Blacks on the Intel SATA Raid Controller of an ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Gen3 MB with an an i7 2700k running at 4.8Ghz (24/7) and OC's CF 290X's for the last 3 years with out issues - Under Water that is and I don't consider my rig as being a DeskTop Gaming PC which no doubt can easily handle any game on a 144Hz, 1440p 4k Res PLS 27" Display at well over 60 FPS (Topping 120 FPS).

Rebuilding an OS for someone I had built as a gaming computer many years ago and one of the old Raptors died, and told him I'd just get one of these for what he's doing and ordered one a half hour ago I guess.

What I would buy these days I guess, MX200, well just did for someone else.

Is a waste of time. If you're a Pro. Just simply over-write the System, Update it and run a BackUp on that System.

It's your "Crash Proof Guarantee" that's what client's rely on and your on call - It's not to fix their mistakes.

I stopped cloning drives and do a clean install whenever I swap my boot drive. I had terrible rma support from samsung with my 840 pro when it died last fall and hessitate to buy another one because of it. I would look hard at corsair or intel because they do have good support for their products.

It's kinda just toasted at the moment, were a couple Old Raptors in RAID 0.

One died, I'm just replacing em.

Which one to pick Crucial MX200 1TB or OCZ Vector 180 960GB?

Do you think it is a good idea to put it as a main drive and of course to separate it in two, 1st partition(lets say 70GB) for the operating system and the rest is for storing media. I already have two 1TB WD HDDs.
