I looked into Panda AntiVirus because of the AntiVirus thread. It has lots of nice features but it's RealTime AntiVirus Engine is paranoid. Sometimes it bogs down my 3200+ using 500MB of memory because a program (oddly enough programs based off of Java mainly). So, what's a good program that is extremely througth but it's super paranoid.

I use NAV on my main PC... and I just put AVG on my laptop to see what it's like.

NAV doesn't get everything. I'm testing BitDefender right now and it seems really good... I'll have to see if that shutting down of the RealTime protection has been fixed.

NAV 2004 is solid. Been catching alot of stuff for me, especially these past few weeks with all those text attachments flying around.

I really like NAV... I hate McAfee with a passion though... somehow a trojan crashed McAfee and then was free to do anything it wanted... luckily my dad was frustrated cause his file "didn't open" and asked me to help him... so I was able to disconnect from the internet and my LAN before any serious damage was done. I reformatted anyway though without backing up my dad's data to teach him a lesson :D Backed up all my data though, hehehehehe

I use AVG 7.0 from Grisoft.com, they have a free version available and they provide daily updates. It is a very good AV program INHO, it always catches virus' before they do any damage on my system or network. Also has an OE plug-in that scans your incoming/outgoing mails for virus'.

I have a dream....
I have a dream that one day every Anti virus thread author will search and one all powerful antivirus thread will have a sticky, and the glory of the correct antivirus software
shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.

This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to surfing AT.

Hmm. So far I like BitDefender, it's email scanning is application independent like lots of other solutions, it has frequent updates, and it's more through then Norton OR Panda Platinum. So far I haven't had the problem with the RealTime Protection going off.
