Need Good AGP Card For Gaming?

you should be able to pick up another g-6 or g-7 series pretty cheap. don't know about ATI cards as i have never used them. i believe ATI has got a new AGP geforce killer out now though.

these are about what you limited to with AGP, they all have gddr3 and 256 memory on board. the last one is the only ATI i thought was worthy. i could be wrong though. one of these days i am going to have to upgrade to pci-e myself and join the rest of the gaming population lol. have a good 4th!

Stay away from the 7800GS anymore. It's prob not even as good as a 7600GT which owns a 6800 Ultra unlike the 7800GS that barely edges ahead of the 6800 Ultra.

But for the same cash just get this X1950GT and call it a day as it spanks all those 128 bit mem cards for the same or less $.

The fastest AGP card currently is the GeCube Radeon X1950XT

The second fastest AGP card is between the X1950PRO and the GeForce 7950GT giving the edge depending on which type of games you play.

Various Radeon X1950PRO cards http://www.newegg.com/Product/...6&name=Radeon+X1950PRO

GeForce 7950GT http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814150223

The third fastest AGP videocard is the GeForce 7900GS

Also if you get the x1950 line, you would most likely need a new power supply. With just about every other video card your power supply would be just fine though.

Just FYI: XFX GeForce 7900GS 256MB AGP 8x Video Card
$139 AR (free shipping, two $20 rebates)

As far as a google product search reveals, this might be one of the better "deals" out there right now. I tempted to buy it right now, but I can't find review that compares it to the x1950 AGP cards.

edit: Does anyone have a link to a review comparing this card to any of the recent ATI cards?

To give you a proper answer,we need more info.

1. what resolution do you game at? (anything 1280x1024 or lower grab a 7600gt with a 2.8 pent 4)

2.We need to know more about your power supply. (how many watts?,how many amps on 12v+ rail?, is it a name brand?

3.what games do you play? wanna play future games?

4. can you overclock your cpu? wanna learn?

I would just grab a used cheap 6800gt and rebuild my whole system. The next wave of games will require duel core cpu's and 7900/1900 series cards to run PROPERLY. I say save your money!

X1950GT vs X1900GT And I doubt theres a single X1950GT out there that won't OC an extra 75mhz on the GPU to match the X1900GT .

Well that answers my question about performance. What about the power requirements? Is the X1950GT as picky about power supplies as some of the X1950PRO cards were initially reported to be?
