I am making a Vietnam movie for history class, and I want to include some good 60's-70's Vietnam war movie music. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about...like Buffalo Springfield and such. Just throw out some songs 🙂

When we did Vietnam in American History last year my teacher asked me to burn a few songs to a CD for him to use in class as demonstrations for the type of music that reacted to the war.. I'll try to list the ones I can remember

Hendrix - Star Spangled Banner
Sgt Barry Sadlar - The Ballad of the Green Berets
Country Joe McDonald - Fixin' to Die
Crosby, Still, and Nash - Ohio
Credence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son

That's about all I remember, hope it helps.

That one song "War....huh....yeah....what is it good for....absolutely nothing..." that was on rush hour. Just search for "Rush hour war", you'll find it 😛

In a Godadavida (how ever you spell that )Iron Butterfly
Fire ..the Crazy World of Arthur Brown
any Canned Heat
any Jimi Hendrix
Proud to be an Okie from Muskogie..Merle Hagard

Thanks everyone! Lot of good songs. I will be filming this movie over the next 2 months or so. I'll try to upload some clips when it's done. Thanks again!

Here's another vote for "I ain't marching any more."

IMHO crappy song, but important for vietnam and anti-war movement.

Chambers Brothers "Time Has Come Today"
Country Joe McDonald and the Fish "Fixing to Die Rag"
Black Sabbath "War Pigs"
Blind Faith "Can't Find My Way Home"
John Prine "Sam Stone" & "Your Flag Won't Get You Into Heaven Anymore" & "Donald And Lydia"
Byrds "Chimes of Freedom" & "Eve Of Destruction"
Canned Heat "Goin Up The Country"
CCR "Fortunate Son" & "Put a Candle In The Window" & " Have You Ever Seen The Rain?"
Doors "The Unknown Solder"
Harry Nielson "Jump into The Fire"
Hot Tuna "Uncle Sam Blues"
Jim Carrol Band "People Who Died" Dire Straights "Brother's in Arms" (Not real a 60-70's tune, but ....)
Jimi Hendrix "If Six Were Nine"
Jimmy Clif "Vietnam" & "The Harder They Come"
Joe Cocker "The Letter"

(That should hold you for awhile!) 😉

That would be:

Edwin Staar - War

Others:

Buffalo Springfield - For What It's Worth
Bob Dylan - Masters of War
Arlo Guthrie - "Don't Remember Name of Song"
Country Joe McDonald - (almost his whole reprtorie (sp?) was anti-vietnam war songs)

Just had some more pop into my head.

Charlie Daniels - Still In Saigon
Huey Lewis and The News - Walkin' On A Thin Line (1980's song, but it's about a Vietnam vet.)

ZV

EDIT: And I second Red Dawn's suggestion of Merle Haggard's 'Okie From Muskogee'.

Don't forget Jefferson Airplane, White Rabbit was very popular it that era.
Doors, Light my Fire
Stones, Can't get no Satisfation
Simon and Garfunkel, Leaving on a Jet Plane.
Normon Greenbalm, Spirt in the sky.

These are not necessarliy about the war, but the guys fighting the war were listening to them.
