Need For Speed Most Wanted

I've been doing races without too much difficulty, recently I beat the blacklist racers with the Eclipse and the Porshe; unfortunately I didn't save before doing each one so I missed the pink slips on both. Now I'm stuck with my Mazda and Supra, I'm up against the other Mitsubuishi and I can't beat him; he's too fast. I've got all the upgrades I can get, but still no luck. I can beat him on the Speed trap, but the sprint it just impossible, too many sharp turns that screw me over badly.

Is it possible to buy a car in career mode? I looked around, didn't see that option...

Did I royally screw myself?

I got the game for Christmas and actually had the same problem. I was stuck with my Cobalt SS for a while because I couldn't figure out where to buy new cars. It didn't take me that long before I figured it out, but I still felt like an idiot.

Which mazda? I have the RX-8 and I'm still beating races at blacklist #6. My brother has been racing his Cobalt since the beginning and I'm just a little farther than him.

Of course, now I have the Lambo, so I don't exactly need the mazda anymore

Yeah, that RX-8. I'm losing to the Lancer Evolution in the sprint. I assume it's because I went for the bonus markers each time, getting either slips or extra cash. I never went for the performance, stupid me.

Are you on Blacklist #9 Earl? I'm having problems too no matter which car I use from my garage. I can easily take him in the Speedtrap but he always gets me on the Sprint at the end. Maybe I need to learn to take those turns better. :(

That's EXACTLY the problem I'm having. Blacklist #9, those damn sharp turns everywhere. I managed to stay in the lead at the very end, around 86%, then he passes me. God damn it.

Yeah I've been frustrated as hell on his race so I haven't even touched the game in the last few days. I wish there was a way to turn off the catch up AI, then I would have some sort of chance against him.

#10 was no problem. #9 is kicking my ass...I lost by two seconds. I beat it for my brother the other day, but I got lucky because the guy hit something. I can't beat it for myself, it's rediculous.

Oh, and just for the record, upgrades aren't incredibly important to a degree. His car will be just a little bit better than yours, no matter what. If you don't have nos, he doesn't have nos.

i had a bad problem myself, i had an eclipse and a supra in career mode when i was starting, blacklist 12, and i accidentally sold the supra that was souped up, but i had to have two cars, so i had to buy a cobalt with the money i had. oh boy i was pissed.....my eclipse was my main car, but still that supra was much better than a stock cobalt. i just beat blacklist 2. now i have to get my m3 gtr back from razor ;). good luck guys.

Now I see what you are talking about. I was in front of him for the whole race, but at the last couple of turns he keeps pulling ahead.

The car hardly matters, your opponent is always based on how good your car is, the better you are, the better he is. It's all about last-second luck. ;)

I suppose if I put NOS on my car, I could pull a second or so in the last strip, hopefully stealing the win. I'll give that a shot in a minute.

Nearing the end there aren't really any corners. Knowing that, you'd assume you couldn't take an earlier lead because of the Catch up bullshit.

If your barely able to win a race then its not the luck of the draw, its your driving technique. NFS is not a racing sim but doesnt mean you just hold the gas and hope the others crash. You also shouldnt be depending on the nitrous, I personally only use it to accelerate out of the turns if at all.

Plus the cayman is good at handiling but the gallardo is a dream so keep racing him until you get it.

Alright, thanks for the advice! I bought the mustang and got it set up pretty nice, I'll hold onto it until said Gallardo. Hm..I usually use Nitro for the turn boost aswell, I didn't end up using it at the end like I had planned.

You guys must just suck:p

I have had the same car from the beginnning (Lexus LS300 or whatever) and am still having no problems beating anyone (up to blacklist #7 as of now). You should try focusing on adjusting your car's performance settings along with buying upgrades to get ahead.
