How can I benefit from a High RPM hard drive? 7200 and 10000 rpm. Would I use it for storage or use a my existing 80gb.
The only truly affordable high RPM (IMO, 7200RPM is mainstream and 10,000RPM is 'high') hard drive is the Western Digital Raptor. You'd need a Serial ATA card to use it, and it only comes in 36 and 74GB sizes ($112.50, $219 respectively). It's fast (even faster with two in a RAID0), but for gaming it won't mean smoother gameplay.Originally posted by: bigblock
