Need first dance song for my wedding!

I need a first dance song for my wedding, and I am out of ideas!

Any suggestions? We both love rock n' roll, but are open to anything. We have even tossed around the idea of getting dancing lessons just for our first dance - meaning we could do a waltz or something.

I suggested "Sexual Healing" over and over again, but she has said no.

LOL.... Sexual Healing..... wrong first dance, might want to clarify that with her... 😀

We used Aerosmith - Don't want to miss a Thing. Her choice, but I thought it fit...

Macarena

😀

Seriously, though, if you two are willing to take dancing lessons, the possibilities are endless.

OK...I'm gonna do you the favor of a lifetime. I accept Paypal and expensive bottles of champagne when your wife looks at you with tears in her eyes because you told her to listen to the words of this song. It's ALL about the words/music for a woman.

It's Don Henley's "For My Wedding" from the album Inside Job.

For My Wedding

For my wedding, I will dress in black
And never again will I look back
Ah, my dark angels we must part
For I've made a sanctuary of my heart

To want what I have
To take what I'm given with grace
For this I pray
On my wedding day

For my wedding, I don't want violins
Or sentimental songs about thick and thin
I want a moment of silence and a moment of prayer
For the love we'll need to make it in the world out there

To want what I have
To take what I'm given with grace
For this I pray
On my wedding day
On my wedding day

I dream, and my dreams are all glory and light
That's what I've wanted for my life
And if it hasn't always been that way
Well, I can dream and I can pray
On my wedding day

So what makes us any different from all the others
Who have tried and failed before us
Maybe nothing, maybe nothing at all
But I pray we're the lucky ones; I pray we never fall

To want what we have
To take what we're given with grace
For these things I pray
On my wedding day
On my wedding day

You're welcome. 🙂

My wife and I went with the first song we danced to, "It's Your Love", Tim McGraw & Faith Hill. There's lots and lots of possibilities....

Since you're now getting married, you might want to go with "It's the end of the world as we know it" from REM. I kept telling my wife I'd have the band play that, but I would have been in the doghouse forever 🙂

At the badgering of my wife's family, we did our first dance to "Come What May" from Moulin Rouge. The thing is, they made us sing it. Ugh. Ended up being kinda fun, but hello "Not even CLOSE to what I'd wanted". 😉 Would have taken dance lessons but was in a couple shows that took all my time.

Etta James - At Last
Nat king Cole feat. Natalie Cole - Unforgettable

a lil sappy and kind of dated, yes, but hey, you're even considering the waltz...

Nat Cole - Sweet Lorraine... listen to the lyrics, they're good, especially if your wife is named Lorraine. I'd use this for your first slow dance.

We debated what song to play for our first dance up until the day we finalized everything with our DJ.

We settled on Linda Ronstadt & Aaron Neville - I Don't Know Much.

"at last" was our wedding first dance song. we took a couple of lessons and choreographed a nice number.

i'd recommend getting the dance lessons and coming up with a routine as everyone else seems to do the typical slow dance back and forth.

we have friends who used "just the way you look tonight" by frank sinatra and had it choreographed for them. it was pretty cool.

How about something slow--"Could I Have This Dance" by that bitch Anne Murray?

Whatever you decide, DON'T play "Every Breath You Take" at any time . . .
