Looking for a case/power suppply to house my standalone file server. It will need adequate power (400W should be more than enough, I tested with a 300W PS and it worked fine) and cooling for 5 HDs (4 are 7200 RPM) plus Athlon 2000-2200, motherboard, etc. Since it's a server there won't be any fancy video cards. Noise is not much of an issue since the server will be in my basement, price is my main concern. So far I'm looking at a Codegen 9001-CA ATX Server Case for $69 shipped from Dealsonic.

Thanks...

Wow, looks like a great server case for cheap. If I wasn't hanging onto my InWin Q500, this would definitely be worth considering. I say get it! :)

I've always like the looks of the Codegen 9000 series - lots of space inside and cooling options. Newegg used to carry 'em but not in a long while.
. But I'm not an admirer of their PSUs. I'd keep a backup PSU on hand, JIC. Look at the Bow Tech on Newegg. Add a Sparkle or Fortron 350W. YIB.

You should be looking at the Codegen 9011 instead. It has a blow hole already cut and includes a fan for it, so you get 3 fans included.
. IMO, it has a better color scheme (charcoal/silver) than either of the 9001 colors. The 400W CG PSU has a pretty wimpy 12V rail particularly if you plan to load it up with drives. But even if you decide for a better PSU up front (case can be had w/o PSU), you'll still be far ahead on the cost of most other server cases w/o PSU.
Tip: "Server is going to be in basement." Electronic equipment doesn't fare well in humid environments. So if the basement isn't climate controlled, consider a dehumidifier for the space.

Yup, already got the dehumidifier. My current server's been down there since the beginning of the year with no problems. After I posted the first message I found the listing for the 9011, and it looks like that may be the better bet for me because of the extra fan.

Thanks everyone!
