ok, i have a SLK-800 (maybe 7 or 6, I really cant remember) on a AMD 2200. Stock speed, I'm not an overclocker guru. However, I have an interesting situation.
We moved into a brand new subdivision. between the new carpet, cat and construction my heatsink plugs up regulary with dirt and lint causing overheats and lockups. This is using the stock fans sold with CPU's (The crappy ones).
The 80mm Tornado that came with the heatsink is great at moving enough air to keep dirt from building up, but its LOUD. I'm looking for a decent sized fan that moves a fair amount of air but doesnt sound like I'm taking off. Recommendations?
Thanks

I have a tornado 92mm and I just quieted that sucker down with a nice Vantec fan controller (3.5" bay black one). If my system gets too hot (which it doesn't) or if I want to annoy my roommate I can just turn it back up. This might be good for you so you can clear out the dusties once in awhile and then turn it down later.

I got a nice Vantec 3.5" controller at Newegg for like 21 bucks (including shipping). Came in 3 days and worked splendidly.

you don't need a fancy or fast fan at all at stock speed esp with a efficient cooler like a slk. are you sure its an slk800? that one has a very narrow base, like the width of a quarter or less...so air goes straight through most of the fin area. cheaper ones like the sk7-6 have bit square bases that aren't so good. with an slk any fan will do.. just buy low rpm or reasonably quiet. low flow tends to mean less dust..but your going to have to clean ti regularly anyways. just a fact of life. is why i like cases with windows:)
