I purchased this Heatsink from SVC for my I7 920, Antec 900 case and Asus P6t motherboard. I also purchased THIS fan and controler for the heatsink. Did I make a mistake in buying this fan/controler? I now realize this is a case fan although it is the right size fan for the heatsink. I can't figure out how to hook this up properly. I decided to use the rear mount/control but the problem is my motherboard requires a conection for the CPU fan. Also I see no way for the controler to hook up directly to the fan unless I lost an adapter somehow. If I hook up the fan directly to the power supply it only runs at 800 RPM. Sorry, I'm just a little inexperienced in hooking these up. BTW SVC support wouldn't even answer my E-MAIL's. I won't be buying from them again!

hmm, 25 views and no replies. Can someone suggest a forum where I could get some help? My only other option is to buy a new fan/controler because 800 RPM's doesn't help enough with the cooling I want. I would be willing to buy something else if someone had some suggestions on something that doesn't cost too much.

I started writing one then got distracted...that fan has an "auto" speed adjuster in addition to the manual speed adjuster. Instead of looking for an adapter to attach, you may be looking for an adapter to remove.

I don't have the fan myself and the pictures show a lot of bundled wires that are hard to distinguish. Post some pics up of the connectors and fan control when you get a chance.

As said really need a shot of the controller and wiring. Hard to say. I can tell you there are two ways to control fan speed.
One is changing the voltage going to the fan.
Two is sending pulses of electricity to the fans in built controller that the fan then converts to voltage and adjust the speed itself. These are the 4 pin fans. On these the +12V line never changes, just the PWM pin rate.

Auto speed adjustment usually means the fan has a thermistor installed that measures the temperature and sets the fan speed, usually not end user adjustable.

Well, looking at the photos of the fan on Newegg's site, I think I understand how it works.

The rear mount panel has two 2-pin wires coming from it, right?

The fan has.....one 3-pin wire (which also has a Molex connector inline with it) and a pair of 2-pin wires, those end very close to the fan's outer shell.

I think you plug in the two wires on the fan into the two 2-pin wires from the controller and also plug in your 3-pin wire into your motherboard.

Now, the control panel has an on/off switch, so I'd imagine in the off position, the fan will be auto speed controlled by temp. But in the on position, you can then control the fan's speed with the knob in the panel.

Take a look at the pictures in the link at Newegg below.....see if that makes sense. Pay close attention to the 4th and 7th pictures.....they should be the ones that tell the tale.

And weren't there any instructions in the package? Odd the fan didn't have any included with it.

Beanie46, thanks for pointing those things out. I took the fan off the heatsink and found two very short wires with 2 pins tucked away in the middle of the fan housing. When I originally installed it I some how missed seeing them. I have everything hooked up now and all is working well. Thanks for everyones suggestions.
