Need drastic help with partitioning

A few weeks ago when I built my pc, I installed windows98 on a 10gb partition as drive C, and 30gb partition as drive D with windows 2000 on it...

I decided 2000 wasn't worth bothering with as 75% of the things I do on my pc work poorly in windows 2000, so I decided to repartition my hard drive to make it only 1 40gb partition...

Boy what a pain..

Fdisk will not let me touch the windows 2000 partition, which is set to be the extended dos partition. When I try to delete it, it says I cannot delete it while logical drives exist..when I try to delete logical drives it says no logical drives defined..

I'm able to format the C: drive, but I cannot format D:, I get some other error which I can't remember off the top of my head..

Please reply, I really want to get my computer up and running again...its just sitting here right now as I can't use it while it is in its current state...

I'm about to give up on it, earlier today my cpu fan died.. its less than a week old and I could smell smoke coming from my pc by the time I found out.. CPU still seems to be working.. I have case fans blowing directly on the heat sink right now, which is to my amazement keeping it cooler then before with a fraction of the noise but i guess that isn't the point..

I now have windows 98 up and running on the C: partition... windows 98 isn't even recognizing the win2k partition...

Is there any other way to get rid of this win2k partition besides the windows 2000 set-up?

Install Partition Magic in your Windows 98. It will be able to see the Win2k partition and fix it up for you. Give that a try. You won't need a boot disk or anything. Just install it. From there, it's pretty simple because everything is all nice and layed out.

Good luck!

I don't have partition magic, and if it is available for download I don't currently have access on that machine because windows 98 is giving me problems installing my network card..

I went to update drivers and then told it I have disk, then it started to install from the driver floppy, then it starts looking for files on the windows 98 cd? and it can't find any of them heh.

Then I'd suggest waiting until your friend gets back with your Win2k disc. :( If you don't have Partition Magic, it's well worth the cash.

Good luck!
