The i386 folder keeps all the source files for Win2K/WinXP.

If you delete this folder, you will need to insert your Win2K/WinXP CD if you want to do anything.

To expand (slightly) on what Andy said... the /i386 folder contains *all* the Windows files needed to run setup. It isn?t needed for day-to-day operation. It is only used for the initial installation, and later if you change your system?s components.

It is really helpfull to have the installation files of Windows onto the HD. At work thats what I do all the time. For OSes like winnt win2k and xp the main installation files are in the %cddriveletter%:\i386 folder on the cd so you just copy the folder to the HD after installation. So when windows says "cant find the %cddriveletter%:\i386 folder" you just change the %cddriveletter% with the letter of your harddrive. It's convenient :)
