well, without even looking into the specs on that board, I can say if it's an 865pe chipset, it should support your CPU.
I doubt you would have any problems, but I am sure someone else will chime in their .02 as well 🙂

i think the Abit AS8 is LGA775 not PGA478

Does anyone know if there is any review on this board? i want to see how this overclock

good luck overclocking with the apparent intel overclock block i hope it works more than the ten to twenty percent that is circulating as the top overclock except for some asus boards that got around it somehow

Actually, AS8 is a 865chipset based mb. so i don't think there is any overclock block

The anti-overclocking crap only applies LGA 775 boards with the 915/925 chipsets. The OC limiter is in the MCH of these PCI-Express chipsets. It has already been bypassed by Asus and Gigabyte.

The motherboard he speaks of is an LGA 775 board with the 865 chipset, so it can overclock just fine.

You can't use that CPU with that motherboard. It's just an i865 board that only takes LGA775 CPUs. I have no idea why you'd want to buy that combination. If you're using an i865 chipset, a Northwood core has better performance than Prescott. And if you want a Prescott an i915 board is faster than i865.
