Hi. Just exchanged a WD HD for a friend for a replacement and it didn't come with the disk and I don't have the disk which copies the old hard drive to the new one. If anyone has that floppy disk that ships with new WD drive, could you please copy it to a zip or rar file and Email it to me? I would think a Maxtor disk would work as well too, but I never tried that.

The newer Maxtor disks have a built in feature that only allow them to work with Maxtor hard drives. I found that out the hard way.:|

By the way: ygpm.

What ecactly do these disks do special that you can't do with a Win 98/ME/2000/XP disk? Or by booting from cd-rom with the os disk in?

You can make an exact copy of one HD to another HD. I prefer Ghost, but have used the WD program without problems.

Interesting... I always though that the only thing those disk do is partition and format the hard drive. Never knew they had a ghost like feature...
