Need Cooling!

Hi,
My case only has one fan slot and i want cool my system.I want know if you guys think that the solution that i came up with work.(I dont want water cooling).
1)Install a Hard drive cooler in a 5.25 slot as a air intake.
2)Install some PCI slot fans so that air can be sucked out.

Would that create decent airflow?

What size fan does your exhuast take? You likely won't need more than one. And those PCI fans don't really work, they just make a lot of noise.

I think you should put that money towards a new case. Check out the Antec 2650. it's nice and small, comes with a 120mm exhuast fan and a nice power supply.

Sounds like you're working with a seriously old case. A 60mm fan is nearly unworkable, that thing would have to be a screamer to properly vent a case.

I agree, I once installed one of those in my system and didn't do more then create noise.

we don't need it, we just want it. 🙂

and yea, just buy a new case, even the fans that come with new cases will be more quiet then getting fan cards and using a loud 60mm fan.

if you want to imporve airflow without spending much money, cutting out the pre-cut fan grills on the case itself will give a big boost in flow.

I also think that you should get another case. Nebor summed it up pretty nice.
It might help if your new case will also have an air intake on it's side, but rear exhaust is probably most important.

You can find new cases with 3-4 fans on Newegg for like $30-40 shipped (even including a PSU!). If you bought a few fans, it would nearly total that.

Rear exhaust fans need some sort of intake flow to work best. That being true, intake in conjuction with rear exhaust are most important when considering how to best cool the entire mb.
