I want to install a PCI based ATI RADEON 32SDR on my DELL OPTIPLEX GX1 (P3 450, 128RAM, win2k pro). I currently have an on board RAGE PRO. Thing is I need to disable this video card.
In device manager, I go to 'display adapters' In properties, there is no option for me to either disable it or to say "exists in all hardware profiles" etc. ie. there is no option for me to do
anything. So, will this option come up after I have physically installed the RADEON PCI? Or should I install Standard VGA display drivers and then will this
option come up?

Is the proper procedure as follows?

1. Physically install the new PCI RADEON
2. boot my machine
3. if windows asks me if I want to install drivers for new vid card I say no
4. I go into windows with standard vga display and disable my rage pro card first
5. I then install the new drivers for the Radeon
6. Reboot the machine

You have to either go into the BIOS and disable it or physically set a jumper to disable it, then Windows won't detect it anymore.

and you can go to "Device Manager" in "My Computer" icon in the desktop. Disable the on-board video there. Then enable the one you want to use. Have gid day.:D
