We are developing this site, and here it is after about 10 different layout/color changes,

http://www.countervision.com

He says the blue clashes with the brown countertop picture in the backgound. We are considering a brownish/gold nav bar instead of the blue, some input would be appreciated, im trying to tell him the site looks good and hes just being way too self conscious about it (its better looking than all of your other sites by a long shot) I think hes wasting way too much time on the look when we still have a lot of backend work to do to get the site actually functional (3 weeks to go live, all the while Im working on 2 or 3 other projects at the same time)

It's rare that you can spend too much time on the UI of a web site.

I think the buttons on the top look pretty amateurish. Also, there is something disturbing about the amount of space above the photo. Call it feng shui or whatever, it just makes me uncomfortable.

The colors seem ok to me, but I'm on a dark monitor. Is there a reason why you have chosen the photo?

grey out the background and increase the countrast a bit. that wouldundo the clash

I agree, the blue and the brown do not look good together. Especially that shade of blue, just too dark and boring. Choose different colors. The top nav bar needs some :hover elements on them. Remove the "powered by Chameleon" crap or make it smaller. Hide the Chameleon Power address and contact info too.

Overall it's a decent and clean design, but a little boring.

what he said^
listen to your boss, as long as it doesnt come out much uglier its always better to do what he says.

Change the text on the menu to the left as well... that font says "I have no clue what aesthetics are, please don't buy goods and services from me".

Ok maybe its not THAT bad... but still 😀

The tabs on top looks pretty newbish. I don't have a problem with the color. Just change the shape/font. The entire site looks like it took a couple hours to make.

I agree... they're not horrible but you could make the buttons look a little better. The color is fine.

Leave it as-is for now, finish the back end, then when you come back to the UI, you may have some fresh ideas.
TBH, it could do with improvements, maybe brighten it up, lighter blues (AT blues).
Needs work.
And less harsh contrast. It doesn't feel very natural 😛

Not bad at all, I've seen much, much worse. I do think the blue is not appropriate as it doesn't accent the logo at all; there's a clash of coloring there. Also, the square navigation buttons at the top are very weak and the countertop photo itself is a little too dark.
