Can I get a basic summary of the chipsets available for socket 939 for Athlon 64. Any links also?
Thanks

Nforce 3- THe mainstream. This is the chipset most people have. Supports native SATA and dedicated Gigabit LAN. Faster and more reliable than KT800

Nforce 4- THe new badass chipset. Best chipset out for A64. Offers all the new technology such as SATAII, Firewall, PCI-E.... the SLI version allows you to "link" 2 Video Cards together allowing each to render half of the screen.

KT800 - The first chipset to really completely support the A64. THe Nforce 3 Pro 150 was crippled by its limited HT speed and what not. Nice alternative to the Nforce 3.

KT890 - Basically a KT800 with PCI-E support

Cant remember the SiS chipset off the top of my head but its of no competition to Nvidia and Via.

I know nothing about via, so I'll just comment a bit on the nVidia chipsets

NForce3 Ultra:
-Good Ocers
-AGP 8x

NForce4 (4x)
-HTT locked at 800Mhz
-PCI-e x16

NForce4 Ultra
-1000Mhz HTT
-PCI-e x16
-should be decent Ocers

NForce4 SLI
-1000Mhz HTT
-PCIe x16 OR 2 x8 lanes
-good OCers

Alot of stuff also really depends on the manufacturer. First, decide if you need PCI-e or AGP. Then decide on if you want SLI (probably not, unless you have money to burn). There are via chipsets, but from what I have heard, the nF3 are usually better (may be mistaken).

The ATI chipset is essentially vaporware. M/B manufacturers dont want to adopt it. They are perfectly satisfied with what they have. So aside from not being available, ATI has virtually no backing by manufacturers.
