Need cheap hosting and domain reg (read this RossMan!)

Hey,
I need a cheap domain with hosting.. I've seen the $5 a year for hosting offer - sounds great.. Anyone sell a combined package with a domain name?

2) RippleHost only, a domain is NOT required if you only need storage space/pic hosting ... just make up a domain name during sign up.

35 bucks for life!
Email and basic web hosting.

I really thought it was too good to be true.
What the heck, if it doesn't work I'll get my money back.

Aside from some initial email issues (due to my temporary server), now that I'm off of the temporary server(2 days), it rocks!

Thought I'd mention this since it's nice not having a monthly/yearly bill at all.

Initially Doteasy.com seems like a good deal but you're getting LESS and paying MORE.

$14/yr NameCheap & RippleHost 100MB webspace, 1GB, cPanel control panel
$25/yr Doteasy 20MB, 1GB, not sure if/what kind of control panel

However if you want an EASY setup for a low bandwidth site I would go with Doteasy or RegisterFly.com for $9.99/yr which comes with 5MB web hosting.

Couple of questions for a newbie.

1) Is the 1GB of bandwidth for the year, or per month? Does it include uploads and downloads? What happens if I go over?

2) In order to have my own website, I first need to register a domain name, then sign up for ripplehost? then my website url would be whatever name I registered, correct?

3) Finally, with ripplehost, do I get an e-mail addy thats the same as my domain name? Do I need to set up a server or anything? Also, how many e-mail names can I make up?

sorry if these don't make much sense, I'm new to this stuff.

2) Correct. First register a domain then sign up with a web hosting provider.

3) Yes, you get 5 e-mail addresses like bob@yourdomain.com and 4 others - you get to choose what they are.
