Hello,

I am in the process of building a new machine and wanted to get some suggestions on what is a good, cheap and reliable case to buy. I have seen $33.00 cases with power supply at http://pcinfinity.net. I also have seen a great many types of cases at Newegg.com, some with free shipping and some without. Some of these cases look very similar to the ones at http://pcinfinity.net but are more money.

I am going to be buying my motherboard from Newegg so I leaning toward getting everything from them but I am lost with which case to get and I do not want to overpay. I will be gettting a socket A motherboard and probably a 1700 AMD chip. I do not plan on overclocking the CPI, if that effects my decision. The machine will have a DVD drive, CDRW drive, 256 MB memory, video capture card and a network card.

I was hoping to spend $30 to $50 on a case and power supply. I have been told that the power supplies included with these cases are not always good. Can they destroy a motherboard or do they just go dead?

My last comment is that I was at best buy today and they had an Antec case with a 300 watt power supply for $69.99. I do not think it is a good deal compared to the cheap cases but is it safer to go with a name brand?

Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Glen

As was told to me by several people here "Start with a good foundation when building anything.. including a computer"
A good power supply is very important. Save some grief and spend the extra money on a good one.

I recommend the Enlight 7000 series. It's little more expensive(60 shipped at newegg) but has alot of good features like drive rails. It's also easy to get into and out of.
