A MSI K7N420-D Pro with a AMD Athlon XP 1500+. I have a geforce 3, 2 hard drives, dvd-rom drive, and a cdr-w drive so I need a moderatly priced case which should come with a power supply(or at least give me a power supply recommendation) and have room for all this stuff :D . This is the first time I have built a comp and need this help bad lol.

Enlight 7237 - good case for budget and can be purchased with or without a PS. If no PS then I would suggest you check the AMD recommended PS at AMD Athlon System Configuration Information

I personally prefer the Antec PS, but there are many others that are good also.

For a little more investment you may want to look at the Antec SX830 or SX840 Cases. The 830 comes with a 300w and the 840 has a 400w PS. With your system you would be ok with the 300 but for future upgrades the 400w would be better.

I just picked up a SX840 from ems computing for $128 shipped. The enlight would be about $50 less.

Note: If you are in a hurry for a case ems is not the fastest shipper in the world, but usually have very good prices.

hmm I like the SX840 but do you know of any full tower cases(I guess thats what they are called), instead of a mid tower case cause I'm not sure the K7N would fit in a mid tower, but I dont have the mobo yet so I'm not sure. also what would be the minimum PSU voltage, I have a good one that is 240w and dont really want to upgrade unless I have too.

edit:whoops didnt notice you saying I needed a 300w one, thanx for the answer*sheepishly grins*

Actually the SX840 is about 4 inches larger that a normal mid tower and will fit large boards. The Antec 1040 is a full tower and it is huge but with a larger price tag also. Antec makes a great case with some of the best airflow available.

With your mobo I would not suggest the smaller Enlight. It might work but would be better off with something larger. The 240w PS that you have would probably not be best for the XP but I have heard of people using them. Again check the AMD site and you will see what you need as far as a PS.

SX840 and SX1040 are the same size with the main difference between the two is that the latter has an extra drive cage. Although the SX600 series is described as a minitower, it's the same size as most midtowers, i.e., about 17 inches tall.

The sx-antecs are tough to beat. a sx635 would provide a somewhat smaller solution at a slightly lower price than the 840. Still a fairly roomy midtower with some power reserves for future expansion. MSI doesn't give the dimensions for your board on their site, but the chance that it won't fit in any sx enclosure is so remote as to be insignificant.

Your 240w psu is marginal at best for the system described. It might just work, but the price of a sx635 or sx840/1040 case/psu combo is very reasonable and will save you money in the long run if your psu proves inadequate, which is very likely. An Antec or other quality psu of 300w will probably be fine, but it's tough to recommend a "probably."
