Does anyone know how much 200W translates into per month if you game say 3 hours a day, in UK (london?)

Id be interested in knowing. I pay on average 40 a month for electric in pa and I try and game daily after work.

Actually I kinda figured out. Here in NY, it's about USD 0.20 per kilowatt.

200W x 3 hours x 30 days = ~ USD 3.60 (assuming 0.20 per kW)

I say overclock your card! I run a single GTX 460 at 1900 x 1200 overclocked to 2000Mhz on mem and 925Mhz core, and in BFBC2 I can run 8xAA and still get decent frames. In most games the GTX460 approches the level of the GTX 470 around 845MHZ GPU overclock.

Even close to 5870 performance

another question is is oc my i7 950 worth it? will i notice a diffrence when gaming?

Add about 20% to your framerate if you get a good overclock out of your 460. So that 35-45 fps would turn into 42-54 fps.

Are you asking if it's worth it to overclock your 950 even farther?

Your power supply has a kick a$$ 12v rail. I think it will be fine for sli.

I doubt you are reading that right. It does not output 580W from the +12V rail and it certainly can't do 4x18=72A. If you look carefully that 580W is for the 12, 3, and 5V rails combined.

Realistically it should be considered about 40A (480W) for the +12V rails, which is on par with any other half-decent 600W power supply.

2 gtx460 in sli are faster then any single card out there.

Need we say more? 🙂 And if you overclock the gtx460's ,its a great upgrade.

I laughed because you proved your first statement invalid with your second statement. The 580 is faster than two 460s and the 570 is almost as fast. They would most likely be better options and give better minimum framerates to boot.

For the most part, no, but BC2 multiplayer may in fact be pretty heavy on the processor. I haven't seen any benchmarks on the matter. My suggestion is to first overclock the video card before messing with the processor. If you don't see any gains at all when overclocking the video card then overclock your processor.

You should shoot for 850 MHz core clock on the 460.

^ Cusideabelincoln is right, you're definitely far more GPU limited than CPU. The GTX460 will have some more performance should you hit 825-850mhz 🙂

I highly recomend you go to the MSI website and download Afterburner overclocking utility. This works withany brand of GTX460, though Im not sure if you will be able to use the voltage increasing sliders. I have my GPU voltage all the way at max, my mem voltage +70, and every review I have read says dont increase aux voltage because it has no effect.

I run the GPU at 925Mhz and mem at 2000 so 4000MHz effective. You should start around 825 - 850mhz for the GPU, keep the shader locked with the GPU, and memory would easily do 3800 to 3900.

you can use kombuster tool to test your oveclock and look for artifacts. The DDR5 RAM on these cards will slow down performance themselves if they are clocked too high, so if you see performance drop, scale it back.

GPU to high will usually crash in a game. If you have the reference heatsink I wouldn't go too much over 875 to 900 if I were you cause the fan will be louder.

Another good method is look at the cards for sale on newegg, you can usually get the same overclock on anything that matches the highest offered factory overclock. That is always a safe starting point.

You might not get a higher max fps, but the minimum will increase and difficult rendering wont dip down as low. Things will run smoother, plus levels seem to load faster:
