Need backup software suggestions. Please help.

So I here is my scenario. I have 2 laptops and 1 desktop. The laptops (win 7 and Mac OS X) both drop any important information onto a network share on the desktop. The 64 bit XP desktop has 3 smaller internal hard drives which all back up to 1 large external usb hard drive.

I am looking for a software that will just save out the files as is. Keep the same structure and not try to repackage them in their own proprietary wrapper. For example windows uses .bkf and acronis uses .tib. So in case of crash or failure you need to make sure you have that software installed again and can't just plug in the hard drive elsewhere and grab what you want.

Any suggestions on a solid software that would be capable of doing what I want within the hardware confines I mentioned above.

SyncToy would be good. Since everything goes back home to a main PC, then just use SyncToy to copy the files to the external hard drive.
