Hi Guys,

Built a new gaming rig around 4 months back with your assistance and have been enjoying playing games like farcry3,sleepingdogs,deux ex,on it.My question is:

1)I am not that good at playing games but i want to get good.and for that will the jump from the normal keyboard ,mouse to gaming mice and keyboard will help??i am very fond of first person shooter games.so will the jump help me improve??are they worth the money??

2)If so please suggest me a good gaming keyboard and mouse for under Rs 2500(50$-60$).

i game on 1440 * 900 resolution and my config is in my signature.i am providing the resolution because there is some DPI stuff i read is associated with the mice which i dont understand.:D

Keyboard and mouse for under 2.5k? What are you looking for, ones made of guild and bedazzled with diamonds?

Mouse, I love my Steelseries Sensei, it is the best mouse I have used in a long long time. For many years I've been going through a mouse per year, I wear them out and them start acting really damn goofy usually after a year. The Sensei is the first mouse I've had in so long that has lasted longer and is still working fine, I've had it for a year and a half so far. Honestly though, your best bet for a mouse is going down to best buy/staples/local computer place and holding them to see which feels comfortable to you, that is more important and will help more than anything else. With that said I do vote for the Sensei not just because it is tough, it is a comfortable mouse and works really well.

Keyboard, I've been using the same one for over a decade now and still have no desire to switch, I'm using an original Logitech G15 and have nothing negative to say about it. The LCD screen is nice when using chat programs you can see who is speaking if you are not familiar with everyones voice, the game features for it are bleh, mouse games will just show how much space is in your inventory or your health/shield/ammo and/or other statistics you can easily see in game with no effort. The hotkeys are great though and being able to make your own macros has been very useful for things (not just games).

a gaming kb is possibly the least effective upgrade; save your money or, if you leak cash, get a 'filco majestouch brown tenkeyless' (or red).
yes, NKRO keyboards are better than non-NRKO, but its *very* rare to run into problems even when using a standard, $5 kb.

a good gaming mouse can be a great advantage if your standard mouse is a cheap, 125mhz mouse.
Abyssus or Deathadder, G400, G9x, any Steelseries, or just about any mouse which doesnt have prediction or angle snapping (so, any "gaming mouse"), but use a wired mouse, not a wireless one.

a mousepad is the n1 upgrade you can make if you want to be a FPS player. you can get a nice Goliathus mouse from eBay for $15, and even though it might be somewhat difficult to get used to it, once you do, you will do much better.

TLDR: Goliathus and Deathadder. buy a bundle from eBay.

I have to say consider spending a bit more; I think it's worth it for the right gear.

I'm not going to post recommendations, really, but some general ones:

- There are a variety of choices in keyboards. They include 'mechanical', which some people really like with 'clicks' on keys, but you don't really need that; but the feel of the keyboard is important. You should do ok with one with good reviews. One choice is 'natural' - a split like the picture below or 'normal', matter or preference. There are other features from key lighting, to USB ports, to extra gaming keys and features, some even have little LCD screens for extra info you probably don't need.

- Mice are partly what you like, but in general Logitech mice at the higher end are well liked, like the G500 types. Basic question - corded or wireless.

In my opinion the quality cordless mice don't really have any disadvantages except some needing battery changes; many you just plug in to charge and use. Some first person shooter fans will sya they prefer corded though to avoid any performance issues with cordless delays.

There are specialized mice for games like MMO's you don't really need.

Razer is a brand that has some fans; others don't care for them, partly for quality issues.

Check reviews. Here's one site that has a year old buying guide, but it's pretty good for this, they recommend Logitech G9X mouse and Microsoft Sidewinder X4 keyboard, ~$100.

I wonder if you can get more value for your money if you're purchasing in India (than say the U.S.). I've found all sorts of Japanese and Taiwanese gaming mice that are cheaper than American versions, like this one:

It is pretty cheap if I get it from ebay.in.Thanks WhipperSnapper.are u using it at the moment??if so how s it performing?

I think it's a good mouse, but I'm not a connoisseur. It has all of the basic features you would want--two thumb buttons and DPI switching. I need cheap wire mice because my cat likes to lay on the cord while I'm surfing or gaming, so eventually they all short out.

I ordered two more of them via eBay last week for under $10 shipped (less than $5 per mouse!). Of course, they're shipping out of China and you have to actually receive it in the mail.

I love my Logitech G9, I'd agree with keyboard not being important. Backlite ones are good at night

The G9 has skipping issues, the G9X has positive acceleration. Neither of these are decent gaming mice. If their was a flaw to accept it would probably be Z Axis. Acceleration is something you just can't fix and skipping is horrible in practice for a gamer.

Steelseries don't make a single flawless mouse. What annoys me more than anything about them is they they market themselves as for pro gamers and yet the mice all have acceleration built in, which makes them terrible for pro gamers. Sure a few do use acceleration but the grand majority of FPS ones don't.

Choose from this list: http://www.esreality.com/post/2024663/mouses-using-flawless-sensors/
